We had our first Far South Film Expert Talk & Networking event in Batemans Bay on Thursday, 8th August at South Tribe.  Our experts, Nick Bolton and Jess Milne took us through the DNA of storytelling.  As storytelling forms the basis of all creative endeavor, from films, books, art, theater, dance, marketing and branding, their presentation focused on what works in content creation.

We had a good turnout of about thirty people from the area, with six new members joining up on the night and soon after. The presentation was well received and the networking before and after, along with drinks, nibbles and pizza was productive and enjoyable.

Jess Milne and Nick Bolton are founders of their own content creation company Ten Alphas. They took us through the story arc and how the protagonist’s journey should play out for a gripping story with a satisfying end. They provided plenty of their own content as examples together with a great slide show. As lecturers at the Australian Film, Television & Radio School (AFTRS) their expertise in presentation was evident. Questions and answers were lively and the event was filmed (of  course!). We hope to show the film to other members who didn’t make it to Batemans Bay at a later date.
